How to make more time....forget the money!

No really, although I am always wanting to make more money (like all of us) what I really notice is in short order for me is TIME! How do we do it! How do we fit a 30 hour day into 24 hours and still get 8 hours sleep (I used to say 9 hours but that is a distant dream now).

Labels and an organizer go a long way. Communication with the team in raising children from parents to care givers to mail man and gardner and plumber. I used to insist on 3 quotes for any work I needed done. Now I'm happy to have time to get one quote. Am I a victim of our societal need to have a career and a family? Likely yes. Are working moms and particularly entrepreneurial moms really able to do it if they don't have family support around?

I'd love to hear some feedback. Already it's 3:40 on Friday afternoon and I still have a few health appointments to set up for Monday and need to pay the bills, and start putting in my resume's for the teaching position I want and I just wonder...what happened to my day?! Ah well, the good news is if I don't get any of those things done and I just get to hang out with the little girl in my life for a few good hours today, I'll feel like a real success.
Thanks for being patient between posts. I'm back. ;)0

Parking Safety

Ok, I will admit I got this ad from a Canadian Babies email but I really thought it was worth sharing....especially for those of you who have a couple young ones in tow these days.

What a great idea! You see toddlers walking down the street dutifully holding the side of a stroller so that a caregiver doesn’t worry that they will run into the street so why not extend the same concept to parking lot safety.

parkingpal_photo_125.jpgThe Parking Pal is a magnet that you put on the side of your car with a large hand on it that your child is taught to put his/her hand on upon getting out of the car while you are busy helping your other children out of the car. The Parking Pal comes in several different fun designs.

These magnets are perfect for families or caregivers with young children close in age.

“After a couple learning sessions, your child will discover that the Parking Pal is their safe spot, and they will know where to go the second they are outside the car. It also helps teach them that parking lots are no place to play.”

How am I Growing

I watch my daughter live a magical life of laughter, joy and total health. Her eyes shine with optimism and unbounded (within reason of course) freedom to explore her world. So, what happens when we grow up? Why do we get bogged down with life's difficulties?

A couple great web sites to look at are The Healing Codes (see link on side bar) and the Silva Life Method. In essence, the more we unbind ourselves from our old thought patterns, the more free we are to be healthy, joyful and young again.

It's a process, so be gentle with yourself. Take one day at a time and know that it is our inherent destiny to become fulfilled as human beings and to rediscover the power within ourselves. When you forget who you are, gently bring yourself back to your breath, feel the air fill you lungs, hold it there and then feel it leave your lungs: recenter, redirect your thoughts to love and nobility. Then get back on the path.

At the Shore of Opportunity

Wow isn't this an exciting time to be us! We live in a world of amazing opportunity and resources. Sometimes I feel it's too easy to get caught up in the "news" of bad news. Wars, famine, disease, massive natural disasters. Geez, it's almost enough to make one religious and likely it is fuel for a lot of Sunday sermons.

But I say, let's look at the bright side. After all, is that not what The Secret would tell us to do. Focus on what it is we want rather than don't want? So, I want to focus on the fact that an African American woman from Chicago's south side worked hard and (in her own words) listened to her parents and got herself into law school where she met an amazing man and thus became the first black First Lady. Of course, I am speaking of Michelle Obama. I have not met this lady yet, but I sure do want to know as much about her as I can.

For two reasons. One for my own personal inspiration and two for my daughter. In the latest blog from the Whitehouse, Michelle Obama's message to a group of young children at Mary's Center for Maternal and Child Care a Washington, D.C. nonprofit that provides a range of social services, she says: "No matter what you do, you can't pass a law that makes somebody do the right thing, right?"Align Left

Apparently this was the message she got from her parents raising their children on the south side of Chicago. So, for me the right thing is to pass on what I know about holistic physical and spiritual and community health and parenting, honoring the planet, and honoring myself. I am sometimes overwhelmed with anxiety because my innermost thoughts are "who am I to write about this?" But even more profoundly, who am I not to. I feel compelled to make a difference, to support companies who are trying to make a difference, and to support those mothers who follow their instincts and their drives to make their contribution in making the world a better place for all our children.

The time is now. Let's do the right thing. Thanks Mrs Obama. I look forward to your leadership. And to your husband's as well. Of course.

The Hazards of Parenthood

One things I am learning fast is that internet social networking can only go so far. It is clear that one of the main staples in human health is social interaction.

When that is depleted due to constraints of modern living, human health diminishes. One needs to be vigilant not to let this get too far out of hand and create groups of regular social meeting.

Well, that's all I have time for. argh. or yea!

Greetings Friends! I hope I can keep you interested in this my first attempt to help the planet by just putting out information. It's with great excitement that I launch this blog and start to share how we can all make a big difference with small changes. I look forward to your feedback too.
